My first wedding commission came from my dear friend Lydia & her fiancé Seyhan. I met Lydia back when I studied at Portsmouth University, where we bonded over a shared love of music, films & dancing till the DJ had packed away their decks. She has always been a great supporter of my work, even getting me to paint a floral motif on the bedroom wall of her student house.
When Lydia & Seyhan announced their engagement, I wanted to send them a gift, so I illustrated a pair of lovebirds on a branch with a floral vine around them. Little did I know at the time, that this illustration in part, would inspire the theme for their wedding stationery but also begin my journey to becoming a wedding stationer.

A couple of months after their engagement we arranged to meet in London one weekend to discuss their theme & ideas for their stationery. Their theme was mint green, blush pink, gold and cream & they wanted to incorporate the ideas of the floral vine from my illustration with a nod to the love birds within the design. One requirement of the design for Seyhan was that the typography used was clear and classic, avoiding the trend of calligraphy or handwritten type faces.
From there I set to work bringing their theme to life, creating a style and illustrations that could be used across all the elements of the suite for their big day from the initial Save the Dates to place names, seating plan and finishing touches on the big day.

"A huge thank you for all of your help with the wedding stationery - you honestly made all of my dreams a reality!"
Lydia & Seyhan
It's been 4 years now since I created the initial Love Bird illustration that started my journey into designing wedding stationery and I created these first designs. I've learnt so much since then and with every commission I'm able to take away something new to help me to continue improving and refining my design process.
I'm so thankful to Lydia to asking me to create these for her, where it's taken me so far and where I will go in future.
